Your Opportunity

Our Cleveland, OH, office is seeking a Process Mechanical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our multi-disciplinary team of water professionals. As a Process Mechanical EIT, you will work in a supportive team environment and have exposure to water infrastructure design projects that include water and wastewater treatment plants and conveyance systems. You may also be involved in planning, design, and construction of critical infrastructure projects, including new pump stations and rehabilitation and upgrades of existing water and wastewater treatment facilities.

Your Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with local and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions for municipal water and wastewater clients. Responsibilities include performing engineering analyses and calculations, preparing design drawings and technical specifications, developing planning and engineering reports, and supporting the design of pipelines, pump stations, and water/wastewater treatment systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects under the guidance and mentorship of experienced professional engineers, with increasing responsibility as technical skills and experience develop. Other responsibilities include:

  • Perform site visits, condition assessments, and observe startup operations, as necessary.
  • Continually acquire new knowledge of and experience with a variety of innovative technologies, treatment approaches, and design tools.
  • Develop ability to identify resources required to complete projects or assignments.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and adapt to project changes.
  • Develop your professional network within the water industry through interactions with clients, regulatory agencies, other consulting firms, and industry organizations.

As your experience grows, you will take on increasingly complex projects and responsibilities, with opportunities to mentor junior team members and support the development of interns and early-career professionals. This progressive growth path will strengthen your technical and leadership capabilities, providing a solid foundation for advancement within our water and wastewater engineering team. Typical office environment will be working with computers and working at a desk for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts of process/mechanical engineering or civil/environmental engineering.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple project assignments, prioritize, and take direction.
  • Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering studies, designs, and specifications.
  • Willingness and ability to perform field work, as needed, within the Boise area and Pacific Northwest.
Education and Experience
  • BS degree in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering, or related field, required.
  • MS degree in civil or environmental engineering or related field, preferred.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required, or ability to achieve within 1 year.
  • 0-5 years of experience in the planning or design of water, wastewater, or related infrastructure.

Pay Range:

Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas-$69,800.00 - $97,700.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
