Job summary

Locus Fermentation Solutions in Solon, OH is seeking a Process Engineer to support production by designing methods to optimize processes, improve output, and reduce costs. The role partners with R&D for technology transfer and scale-up, and oversees capital projects up to $1M.

The position requires a BS in engineering and 5+ years in process/chemical engineering, with experience in plant operations and process control. Familiarity with lean, Six Sigma, and CAD/CAE is preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in an engineering discipline (chemical/biochemical preferred).
• 5+ years in a process/chemical engineering role or equivalent.
• Experience operating plants with computer-controlled processes.
• Familiarity with Six Sigma, Lean, CAD/CAE software, and OSHA/EPA regulations (PSM).

Responsibilities

• Analyze production processes using standard scientific and statistical methods to identify constraints and opportunities.
• Design and implement changes to equipment or methods to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Plan and design methods to optimize lean production processes.
• Collaborate with R&D and production to support scale-up and technology transfer.
• Manage capital projects up to $1M and ensure alignment with quality standards.
• Create SOPs and technical documents for process transfer and scale-up activities.
• Work with programmers to improve control system functionality.
