Position Description:

Process Engineer for the Water Team, improving infrastructure in Florida offices. Must be licensed PE, bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, 5-10 years experience, process engineering knowledge for water and wastewater treatment. Self‑motivated, collaborator, excellent written and communication skills. Hybrid‑remote schedule after 30 days.

Typical responsibilities include:
  • Provide technical planning, biological process and mechanical design and construction support on various water and wastewater treatment and resource recovery projects, including combined sewer overflow, collection system, pump station, stormwater, hydrologic and hydraulic models.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, run process models (e.g., Excel, Biowin, GPS-X) and support analysis of alternatives. Write technical memoranda documenting alternative analyses, basis of design, business case evaluations, P&ID reports, etc.
  • Prepare design reports and construction plans for treatment plants and pump stations using local and state standards.
  • Prepare or assist with specifications and permit submittals.
  • Assist with reviewing scope, budget, and schedule of new project tasks.
  • Monitor task budget and progress.
  • Document design changes and communications.
  • Conduct on‑site inspections and provide technical guidance for start‑up as needed.
  • Prepare project status and other reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals.
  • Attend client, public, project and staff meetings including client progress, plan review, pre‑construction, etc.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Maintain excellent client relations.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in the Florida Water Environment Association or similar organization as a committee member.
  • Publish and present papers at state and national conferences; serve as an active member of the Wade Trim Water and Wastewater Treatment Practice.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Skills/Experience:
  • 5–10 years of related experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Experience with large‑scale piping, valve, pumping systems, and treatment technologies
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facilities (plus)
  • Experience developing detailed design plans for treatment projects (plus)
  • Expertise in conventional activated sludge wastewater treatment processes (litr, solid, nitrification/denitrification, phosphorus removal, secondary and tertiary treatment, high‑rate disinfection, solids handling, biosolids treatment) (plus)
  • Experience assisting with sales efforts for large scale projects (plus)
  • Strong written and verbal skills
