Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a process engineer in Englewood, CO to develop heat and material balances, perform equipment sizing, and create PFDs and P&IDs for multidisciplinary projects. You will work under senior supervision and contribute to safety reviews and design basis development.

You will collaborate with clients and vendors, support proposals, and assist in construction, commissioning, and startup activities, including drafting operating procedures.

Qualifications

• BS in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Excellent oral and written communication required.
• Strong teamwork skills; willingness to travel up to 20%.

• Carry out PSV sizing and overpressure protection calculations.
• Develop Design Basis for new projects.
• Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs.
• Support safety reviews such as HAZOP/PHAs and PSM.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, vendors and contractors.
• Assist in proposal preparations and staffing coordination.
• Support construction, commissioning, and startup, and draft operating procedures.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team for multiple projects.
• Work under the supervision of a more senior process engineer to:
• Develop the heat and material balance for new projects using process simulation tools. Perform equipment sizing calculations and prepare equipment data sheets.
• Perform detailed hydraulic calculations to determine pipe sizes, control valve sizing, compressor and pump duties, etc.
• Perform facility overpressure protection calculations, PSV sizing, and documentation with supervision.
• Develop Design Basis for new projects.
• Develop Process Control Narrative document and support Cause & Effect document.
• Create process flow diagrams (PFD) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
• Participate in safety reviews, HAZOP/PHAs and PSM activities.
• Maintain effective communication with project team members and with clients, vendors, and contractors.
• Participate in the preparation of proposals for engineering services. Support schedule planning for projects including coordinating staffing resources with Process Engineering Manager.
• Support construction, commissioning, and start-up efforts, draft operating procedures and provide operator training manual input.

Qualifications

• We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position.
• BS in engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills required as well as a professional demeanor.
• Excellent teamwork skills.
• Able to travel as necessary for client meetings, job site visits, start-up activities, off-site training, industry related conventions/seminars, etc. (up to 20% travel).
• This position is located in Englewood, CO

Valued, but not required

• Oil and gas industry experience in midstream and/or upstream.
• Skills in HYSYS, Synergi, VMG Symmetry, and/or ProMax preferred.

Compensation Range

$69,298 - $99,644
