Job summary

tesa is seeking a Process Engineer at its Sparta plant to optimise existing production processes and support start-up of new manufacturing equipment. The role emphasizes Safety, Quality and Productivity across dedicated lines.

You will create manufacturing instructions, run production trials with R&D, and drive continuous improvement through data analysis, DoE methods and SPC, coordinating with various functions to ensure compliant, efficient production.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree.
• At least 2 years of related experience in the last five to eight years.
• Willingness to travel to other locations (approx. 5%).
• Strong ability to evaluate complex data and draw conclusions.
• Experience with DoE methods and software preferred.
• MS Office proficiency, especially Excel; SAP experience preferred but not required.

The Process Engineer is responsible for consistently working to optimise existing production processes, and start‑up of new manufacturing equipment, including tests to ensure product quality. In addition, a main focus for the person hired into this position will be on key factors such as Safety, Quality and Productivity.

How You'll Help The Formula

• Responsible for the creation, implementation, training and maintenance of manufacturing instructions, production process descriptions and process data collection needed for the safe, quality oriented and efficient production on dedicated production lines.
• Executes production trials in alignment with other functions, such as R&D and production.
• Initiates production trials based on a risk assessment for safety and quality in alignment with other responsible functions with focus on process parameter and process equipment.
• Plays a big role in the continuous improvement processes, i.e., aligns, executes and documents measures to optimise the production process, in particular quality or efficiency improvements and waste reduction.
• Initiates, develops, and contributes to the implementation of technical measures for new or optimised equipment and carries out the testing of the resulting process changes.
• Carries out causal research on quality deviations.
• Defines measures necessary to correct or prevent errors. He/she documents these in the process FMEA, 8D reports and implemented countermeasures.
• Leads the selection and application of tools and methods with respect to scientific standards.
• Responsible for carrying out the statistical process control on the relevant equipment and evaluating it.
• Builds up process relevant databases and systems, analyzes the data (quality records, production data), documents, and communicates the results.
• Provides knowledge of processes and production in written reports and gives input into projects and capital expenditures to enhance safety, quality, and globally competitive production.
• Manages projects in tesa product development or Plant Sparta projects according to the project guide process.
• Participates in expert teams within the technology network and exchange with sister plants.
• Enforces all legal, quality, plant, and company rules with special emphasis on safety, environment, and quality according to IATF 16949 standards.
• Works closely with production, quality, scheduling, R&D, and marketing on the above-mentioned tasks.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Key Elements For Your Role

• BS in Electrical, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related degree and at least 2 years of related experience within the last five to eight years.
• Proven ability to evaluate complex data and draw conclusions.
• Must be willing and able to work extended hours machine‑side.
• Experienced in project management, problem solving and prioritization.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; SAP experience preferred but not required.
• Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment, while being able to make sound decisions
• Must be available and able to travel to other locations, including foreign travel (approx. 5%).
• ISO/TS 9001 and/or IATF 16949 knowledge; preferred.
• Knowledge and experience with design of experiment methods and software; preferred.
