Job summary

Alkegen is a global materials company seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Process Specialist to improve stability, yield, and efficiency on the production floor. You will partner with operators and engineers to control processes, analyze data, and drive improvements across casting, ceramics, and composites.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred but not required.
  • 3–5+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience (casting, ceramics, composites, or similar preferred).
  • Strong understanding of process control and variation reduction.
  • Experience with RCA (8D, CAPA) and process documentation.
  • Ability to work on the production floor daily in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing processes to identify sources of variation and instability.
  • Establish and maintain process parameters, standards, and controls.
  • Drive consistency in critical processes (mixing, forming, curing, firing, etc.).
  • Implement corrective actions to address process deviations and non-conformances.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting on the production floor and partner with operators.
  • Support production in meeting daily output and efficiency targets.
  • Lead structured problem-solving (8D, root cause analysis) to eliminate repeat issues.
  • Develop and implement actions to improve yield and reduce rework.
  • Develop, update, and enforce standard work instructions and process documentation.
  • Ensure process changes are validated, documented, and sustained.
  • Support training of operators on updated processes and standards.
  • Track key process metrics (yield, scrap, cycle time, throughput).
  • Utilize data to identify trends and drive decision-making.
  • Establish visual controls and reporting for process performance.
  • Work with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering on process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Process Stability & Control

  • Monitor and analyze manufacturing processes to identify sources of variation and instability
  • Establish and maintain process parameters, standards, and controls
  • Drive consistency in critical processes (mixing, forming, curing, firing, etc.)
  • Implement corrective actions to address process deviations and non-conformances

Production Support (Hands-On)

  • Provide real-time troubleshooting on the production floor
  • Partner with operators and supervisors to resolve process-related issues quickly
  • Support production in meeting daily output and efficiency targets
  • Act as the primary technical resource for process-related challenges

Scrap & Yield Improvement

  • Analyze scrap trends and identify root causes of defects (e.g., shrinkage, cracking, dimensional issues)
  • Lead structured problem-solving (8D, root cause analysis) to eliminate repeat issues
  • Develop and implement actions to improve yield and reduce rework

Process Documentation & Standardization

  • Develop, update, and enforce standard work instructions and process documentation
  • Ensure process changes are validated, documented, and sustained
  • Support training of operators on updated processes and standards

Data & Process Monitoring

  • Track key process metrics (yield, scrap, cycle time, throughput)
  • Utilize data to identify trends and drive decision-making
  • Establish visual controls and reporting for process performance

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work with Quality to ensure product meets specifications and customer requirements
  • Partner with Maintenance to address equipment-related process issues
  • Support Engineering initiatives related to process improvements and new methods
