Job summary

Great Dane in the United States is seeking a Process Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes on the shop floor. You will collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering on new processes for products and equipment.

You will work on day-to-day improvements, write work instructions, maintain PFMEAs and Control Plans, participate in root-cause analyses, train operators, and support pilots and trials for new designs.

Qualifications

• Education: Industrial/ Manufacturing/ Mechanical Engineering degree
• Experience: Entry level
• Skills: PFMEA and Control Plans, read 2D/3D drawings, basic drafting
• Lean and Six Sigma principles familiarity
• Travel: 10%

Responsibilities

• Directly work with operators on the shop floor to solve day-to-day improvement projects
• Assist Corporate Manufacturing Engineering on larger projects
• Author and maintain work instructions for the shop floor
• Maintain MES system data in plants where applicable
• Maintain PFMEAs and assist in Control Plans
• Participate in Root Cause – Corrective Action exercises
• Serve as a technical liaison between Production Engineering and Operations
• Assist in manufacturability studies for new products/equipment
• Purchase hand tools and small equipment for improvement projects
• Design shop aids and small tooling for improvements
• Own the process and support pilots and trials for new designs
• Train operators on new processes and changes
• Guide training with Operations Supervisors
• Other duties as assigned

The Position: Process Engineers will be directly responsible for the development, implementation, and maintaining manufacturing processes and process documentation on the shop floor. Process Engineers will also collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering to develop and execute new manufacturing processes for new product designs and new equipment.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Directly work with operators on the shop floor to solve tactical day-to-day improvement projects
• Assist Corporate Manufacturing Engineering and Senior Process Engineers with larger projects as required
• Author and maintain work instructions for the shop floor
• Maintain MES system data in plants where applicable (work instructions, material consumption etc.)
• Maintain PFMEAs under supervision of Senior Process Engineer and assist Quality in maintenance of Control Plan
• Participate in Root Cause – Corrective Action exercises for defects that occurred in their assigned area
• Serve as a technical liaison between Production Engineering and Operations
• Assist in manufacturability studies with Production Engineering and Corporate “Core” Engineering
• Purchase of hand tools and small equipment in support of improvement projects
• Design of shop aids and small tooling in support of improvement projects
• Own the process and collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering on the execution of manufacturing pilots and manufacturing trials to support new product and new process designs
• Train operators on any new processes and process changes
• Collaborate with Operations Supervisors to guide training, both new employees and recurring training in assigned area
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Your skills and abilities (required qualifications)

• Education: Industrial/ Manufacturing/ Mechanical Engineering degree
• Experience : Entry level
• Skills :
  • Basic familiarization with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Knowledge of PFMEA and Control Plans
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D blueprints and 3D models
  • Familiarization or basic experience with drafting work instructions
  • Basic experience with 2D drafting and 3D modelling (AutoCAD, DraftSight, Solidworks, CATIA, etc…)
  • Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to effectively communicate with operators
  • Familiarization with line balancing, work measurement, and cost justification techniques
  • Analytical problem solving skills
  • Familiarization with Lean and Six Sigma principles
• Travel : 10%

SALARY RANGE

The expected salary range for this role is $66,057 - $99,086 per year.
