Job summary

Materialise USA seeks a Medical Process Engineer to join the US team in Plymouth, Michigan. The role focuses on shaping production processes for 3D printing, validation and documentation within highly regulated medical environments.

You will collaborate across engineering, quality and regulatory teams, translating requirements into robust procedures, training, and validated workflows to ensure patient-specific designs meet stringent quality standards.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience in process/validation engineering within highly regulated industries (medical devices, pharma, aerospace).
• Quality oriented with attention to detail, yet able to move forward without getting stuck.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Proactive, self-organized, and takes ownership of tasks.
• Effective coordination with diverse stakeholders in quality, regulatory, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the global Production team on 3D printing, post-processing, cleaning and production planning.
• Serve as technical expert and GoTo for development and operational questions.
• Identify, define and implement process improvements following medical quality standards (documentation and validation).
• Use collected data to continuously improve operational quality and efficiency of processes.
• Maintain existing validation programs and validate new equipment, products and processes.
• Create and maintain process documentation, work instructions and operator training.

Our Medical Production team turns design into reality using various 3D printing and post-processing techniques after which detailed quality inspection, final cleaning & packaging takes place. To further drive & support our Medical Production activities Materialise is looking for a Medical Process Engineer to join the US team (Plymouth, Michigan).

Responsibilities will include

• You work with the global Production team on topics related to 3D printing, post-processing, cleaning & production planning.
• Your hands-on engineering approach allows you to become a technical expert and GoTo for both development & operational questions.
• You identify, define, and implement process improvement following medical quality standards on the documentation and validation of your work.
• Data collected in both validation & operational setting allow you to continuously improve the operational quality and efficiency of our processes.
• You maintain existing validation programs and complete new equipment, product and process validations.
• You translate this into an operational success by providing the right process documentation (work instructions), operator training and support.
• As member of the process engineering team, you will enjoy close cooperation with stakeholders from operational, device development, biosafety, research, quality and regulatory teams.

Qualifications/requirements

• You have a Master degree in engineering or equivalent through experience
• You have a few years of experience working in a process (validation) engineering role within highly regulated industries such as the medical devices, pharmaceuticals or aerospace industries.
• You are quality oriented and have an eye for detail, but you also don’t get stuck on this.
• You are able to think out of the box when needed
• You are good at troubleshooting and problem solving.
• You have a strong, versatile & proactive work ethic and you’re eager to learn.
• You are proactive and self-organized.
• You take initiative and demonstrate full ownership of your tasks.
• You value and uphold impeccable coordination
