Job description

Greater Charlotte, NC Region | High-Speed Automated Manufacturing | Plastics & Polymer Processing

We are recruiting for a Process / Quality Engineer to join an innovative, growing manufacturer of advanced plastic packaging solutions serving the personal care, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, and consumer products industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on engineer who enjoys solving manufacturing challenges, optimizing high-speed production equipment, improving product quality, and driving continuous improvement in a highly automated manufacturing environment.

The operation utilizes sophisticated, in-line manufacturing technology that integrates plastic extrusion, injection and compression molding, printing, and capping into continuous production processes.

Working closely with manufacturing, maintenance, quality, and technical teams, you will play an important role in improving process reliability, reducing defects and scrap, strengthening quality systems, and maximizing equipment performance.

This position offers the opportunity to make a visible impact on manufacturing performance while developing expertise in advanced polymer processing, automation, and high-speed packaging technologies.

Ideal Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing process controls, quality engineering, defect analysis, and process improvement.
  • Preferred experience with in-mold labeling (IML)
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, DOE, FMEA, or other structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Experience with packaging manufacturing, plastic tubes, consumer products, medical products, or other high-volume precision manufacturing environments is especially valuable.
  • Exposure to process qualification, IQ/OQ/PQ validation, or regulated manufacturing quality standards is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, hands-on approach to working with production teams.
What Makes This Opportunity Interesting?

This is not a traditional quality engineering position focused primarily on documentation or inspection. We are seeking an engineer who enjoys being on the manufacturing floor, understanding how equipment and materials interact, and turning technical problem-solving into measurable improvements in quality, efficiency, and production performance.

f you have experience in plastics manufacturing, polymer processing, or automated production and enjoy the challenge of making complex manufacturing processes run better, I would welcome a confidential conversation.
