Job summary

Nouryon in Axis, AL is seeking a Process Engineer to optimize manufacturing processes, improving safety, quality, efficiency, and cost performance. You will support daily production activities, lead process improvement projects, and collaborate with operations, maintenance, quality, and EHS to ensure stable plant performance.

This permanent, full-time role reports to the Process & Quality Control Manager and is based in Axis, AL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing or processing plant.
• Experience in a chemical plant is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor key process parameters and equipment performance to detect deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot process-related issues and coordinate root cause analysis.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to production lines to ensure stable operation and achievement of production targets.
• Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, throughput, energy consumption, raw material usage, and overall OEE.
• Develop and implement process changes and improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Conduct trials and experiments to validate new process conditions, materials, or technologies.

About the job

The Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and cost performance. This role supports daily production activities, leads process improvement projects, and works closely with operations, maintenance, quality, and EHS to ensure stable and reliable plant performance. This role also contributes to the site process safety management (PSM) and Risk Management Planning (RMP) programs.

In your future role as Process Engineer you will

• Monitor key process parameters and equipment performance to detect deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot process-related issues (yield losses, off-spec product, equipment bottlenecks, etc.) and coordinate root cause analysis.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to production lines to ensure stable operation and achievement of production targets.
• Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, throughput, energy consumption, raw material usage, and overall OEE
• Develop and implement process changes and improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
• Conduct trials and experiments to validate new process conditions, materials, or technologies.

We believe you bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related discipline
• 5+ years’ experience in manufacturing or processing plant.
• Great if you have Experience in a chemical plant.

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Process & Quality Control Manager and based in Axis, AL.
