Overview

Process Development Engineer

Develop cost effective, efficient, and high-quality process build instructions for mechanical and electrical assemblies. Interface with pre-production and production cross-functional teams to ensure developed processes, tools and equipment produce a production-ready product.

Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Process Development Engineer: $85k - $99k

Pay commensurate with experience.

Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K and other possible benefits as provided. Benefits are subject to change with or without notice.

Responsibilities
  • Develop Manufacturing Process Instructions (MPI).

  • Create manufacturing routers and Bills of Materials (BOMs) in an ERP & MES system.

  • Ensure technical drawings, specifications, work instructions and test processes meet customer & company requirements.

  • Interact with customers to obtain and provide technical information.

  • Create reports and status project updates.

  • Create labor standard hours/Time-Standards.

  • Interpret engineering and technical information.

  • Create and maintain design data.

  • Support the evolution of Digital Product Design (DPD) and Model Based Definition (MBD).

  • Support Engineering & Manufacturing technology roadmap.

  • Research and review specifications for RFQs.

  • Perform tooling reviews and capability analysis.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Experience, Education, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, or similar).

  • Preferred: 5 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Knowledge of aerospace specifications and common industry practices in commercial and military aerospace sectors.

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of engineering principles and practice.

  • Able to identify and resolve pre-production issues.

  • Experience with 3D CAD software to interpret model-based definitions and digital product designs. Solidworks or CATIA experience preferred.

  • General mechanical assembly analysis, testing and qualification experience.

  • Mechanical assembly component selection and qualification experience.

  • Capability to solve complex design problems with minimal supervision.

  • Strong ability to work with teams with a proven ability to effectively interact and collaborate.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

  • Nice to have: Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.

  • Excellent written and communication skills.

  • Strong sense of personal accountability and drive to succeed.

  • Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus.

  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
