Your Job

Georgia-Pacific is seeking qualified professionals for a salaried, non-exempt Process Control Technician role reporting to the Process Controls Engineering Department. As a new position in the mill, the role may evolve as opportunities are identified to create the greatest value. This position will support the mill by improving and maintaining the accuracy and effectiveness of controls equipment, with a focus on the Paper Machine process area. Additional details about these responsibilities are provided below.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on process control systems, and accurately document results, maintenance activities, and system adjustments in Monthly Reports and SAP.
  • Monitor system uptime and performance.
  • Support the installation, reliability, and verification of sensors and instruments.
  • Support continuous improvement and long-term reliability of existing and new process control systems implemented in the mill’s Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Quality Control Systems (QCS).
  • Respond to DCS/QCS-related alarms and process issues in collaboration with operators and process control engineers.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to support off-hours reliability.

  • Identify asset improvement opportunities that create value for Georgia-Pacific, and provide input on equipment conditions, failure risks, system corrections, and system addition
  • Maintain performance that meets maintenance, shutdown, and standard operating expectation
  • Complete required administrative tasks, including work in SAP, MOC, and related system
  • Help create long-term value by using resources wisely, reducing waste—including materials, supplies, parts, tools, time, and personnel—and proactively identifying and resolving issue
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in Instrumentation, Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Technology, or a related field, OR 5 years of process controls experience
  • Exposure to industrial automation or process control systems
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Word (document creation), Excel (spreadsheets), and Outlook (email and calendar)
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Pulp & Paper, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
  • Experience working within a Pulp and Paper operation
  • Experience with Valmet QCS system.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS systems
  • Experience with loop tuning or control system optimization
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
