Role Description

The Process Control Analyst II ensures the integrity, robustness, and availability of the Process Control System (PCS) at the Blue Plains Wastewater Treatment Plant. This role evaluates the effectiveness and efficiency of PCS, implements new algorithms and process control dashboards, and manages alarm notifications to keep the system operating at peak performance.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Recommend policies, procedures, and practices to meet or exceed NPDES permit requirements and enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Develop and implement process control strategies using the Process Control and Computer System, PLCs, and HMI software.
• Operate and maintain the PCS network, including necessary security controls.
• Review and interpret complex design drawings, plans, and specifications for new and modified control strategies.
• Implement new control logic and modify existing logic; manage data in both control system and plant process databases for integrity and compliance.
• Maintain standards and the system change‑management process; update software configurations as needed; manage alarm notifications.
• Collaborate daily with Operations and Maintenance personnel to address urgent system needs.
• Work with vendors and internal support to resolve problems quickly.
• Write documentation such as control narratives, SOPs, and policies to support job functions.
• Identify scope of work, interface with vendors, contractors, and consultants to direct, coordinate, inspect, and accept work; resolve related problems and recommend modifications.
• Provide troubleshooting support for complex process problems, digital control software, and equipment.
• Write regular and special technical reports; present technical papers at national and international conferences.
• Plan work activities, develop schedules, and identify training needs; serve as a resource for skill development.
• Enforce high standards for safety, quality, and productivity; inspect work quality; report hazards to ensure compliance.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor.

Skills & Qualifications

Required Experience

• Five (5) years of progressive experience in wastewater treatment processes, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least one (1) year of experience with process control strategies or software programs for digital process control equipment and related networks.
• Experience with Emerson Process Control system, PLC programming, and wastewater/industrial plant control or equivalent systems.
• Experience with Industrial Control Systems networks and related cybersecurity standards.

Minimum Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Systems & Control Engineering, or related field from an accredited college or university.

• In-depth knowledge of environmental sector principles applied in practice.

Physical Requirements
