Job summary

Alkegen is seeking a Process & Continuous Improvement Engineer in South Hill, VA, to optimize manufacturing processes, reduce costs, and improve quality. You will collaborate with design engineering, quality assurance, and production teams to deploy lean initiatives.

You will build training materials, mentor staff on Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, and Value Stream Mapping, and develop metrics to track progress while leading improvement projects from inception to completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience implementing lean principles in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, quality control, and Lean principles.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with engineering software tools (e.g., CAD, data analysis software).

Responsibilities

  • Process Improvement: Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
  • Confers with management to set continuous improvement goals and objectives.
  • Technical Support: Troubleshoot equipment issues and recommend solutions to improve operational performance.
  • Develops training materials for lean process training and implementation.
  • Provides training and mentoring to employees on lean process implementation.
  • Facilitates and leads the continuous improvement process by identifying training needs and providing training in problem solving methodologies (Kaizen, 5S, Kanban, Value Stream Mapping).
  • Engages leadership in Lean initiatives to drive improvements.
  • Create metrics, deployment goals, and objectives to drive accountability.
  • Lead Lean programs from inception to completion.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain SOPs, work instructions, and process flows.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration of new processes and technologies.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze production data to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Training: Assist in training personnel on new processes, tools, and best practices.
