Job summary

The Center for Pain is seeking a dedicated Procedure Room Technician to join a dynamic team focused on delivering exceptional patient care. The role involves preparing patients, supporting procedures, and maintaining a safe, efficient procedure room.

You will assist physicians, monitor patients, document details, and ensure infection control while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. BLS is required; ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a medical setting is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle patient inquiries with empathy.
• Proficient in basic computer skills (MS Office, electronic health records, etc.)
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move equipment as needed.
• BLS certification required. ACLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patient Preparation: explain procedures and ensure comfort.
• Assistance during Procedures: support during epidural injections, nerve blocks, etc.
• Technical Support: set up and maintain procedure room equipment.
• Monitoring Patients: observe vitals and respond to distress.
• Documentation: record patient information and procedure details.
• Sterilization and Infection Control: maintain sterile environment.
• Patient Education: provide post-procedure home care instructions.
• Collaboration: work with physicians, nurses, and staff.
• Compliance: follow HIPAA and safety standards.
• Continuing Education: stay updated on pain management advancements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for pain management procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort.
• Assistance during Procedures: Assist healthcare providers during pain management procedures, including but not limited to epidural injections, nerve blocks, and spinal cord stimulator trials.
• Technical Support: Set up and maintain equipment necessary for pain management procedures, ensuring everything is in proper working order.
• Monitoring Patients: Monitor patients throughout procedures, observing vital signs and responding promptly to any signs of distress or complications.
• Documentation: Accurately document patient information, procedure details, and any observations during and after procedures.
• Sterilization and Infection Control: Maintain a clean and sterile environment in the procedure room, following established protocols for infection control and sterilization.
• Patient Education: Provide post-procedure instructions to patients, including information on home care, potential side effects, and follow-up appointments.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with other healthcare team members, including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff, to ensure seamless patient care.
• Compliance: Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including HIPAA regulations and safety standards, to ensure patient confidentiality and safety.
• Continuing Education: Stay updated on the latest advancements in pain management procedures and technologies through continuing education and professional development activities.
