Responsibilities

Under general direction provides direct patient care to practice patients in both office and Ambulatory Surgical Center ASC settings Responsibilities include entering patient intake and provider orders into the Electronic Medical Record EMR requesting medical records utilizing the pharmacy drug monitoring program as directed by providers recording vital signs and medical history collecting patient information and facilitating patient flow Complies with measures to assure that patientcustomer satisfaction results are consistently maintained Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform job in accordance with Company Mission vision and goalsAssists in bringing patients to pre op recovery and transporting for dischargeAssists patients with medical forms as necessaryExercise confidentiality in all areas abiding by HIPAA rules and regulationsAccurately completes applicable paperwork; ensuring patient medical records are complete Prepares all forms and requisitions as instructed by the providerCreates and maintains a positive atmosphere of customer service teamwork mutual respect professionalism and accountability Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history; confirming purpose of visit and confirming patient IDAnswers telephones in a professional manner and delivers messages promptlyReturns patient calls in a timely mannerMaintains and improves current skills and knowledge by attending all relevant meetings classes trainings and by keeping certifications current Adheres to Infection Control Safety and OSHA standards as specified by State and Company standardsMaintains knowledge of and complies with State Company and any other applicable policies and proceduresAssists nursing staff with obtaining and recording vital signs pregnancy tests and glucometer checks Verifies patient history information and takes detailed history when indicated Informs nursing staff and physician of resultsMakes frequent rounds on patients in pre op and recovery to provide for any other needs of the patient prior to discharge Performs daily weekly and monthly safety and equipment checksDaily reviews upcoming cases and notifies nurse of any potential issuesReviews schedule daily and assists with office procedures to help maintain patient flow and accuracy of scheduled procedureAssists with inventory and order supplies for all procedures in the ASC as directedSets up the sterile field on the Mayo stand with instruments supplies medications and equipment needed for proceduresPositions the patient for the procedures establishes the sterile field and drapes the patient for the proceduresAssists providers by passing instruments and supplies to them and holding retractors as needed during proceduresIf assisting with procedures adheres to all federal state and nursing regulations and protocols including but not limited to patient safety procedures such as verification of patient identification prior to proceduresImmediately prior to the start of any procedure in the procedure room initiateparticipates in a time out and ensures correct patient procedure site and side and that there are no additional concernsIdentifies every patient with two identifiers full name and date of birthDocuments this information in the Procedure Safety Checklist including the time of the time outSterilizes and breaks down procedure room after each patient and ensures procedure room is cleaned prior to the beginning of a procedureKeeps rooms clean and stocked with suppliesMaintains stock of medicines and supplies as necessary Advises Office Manager when replacements are neededSterilizes and cleans instruments used in examinations andor procedures; maintains clean and hygienic environmentMonitors personal and provider staff task buckets in the EMRSets up the sterile field on the Mayo stand with instruments supplies medications and equipment needed for proceduresPositions the patient for the procedures establishes the sterile field and drapes the patient for the proceduresOperates sterilizes and maintains necessary equipment including but not limited to the autoclave RFA machine etcAssists the physician with use of the C ArmAccurately maintains dailymonthly record keeping of radiation logsAccurately completes and maintains all applicable records and logs ie radiation spore testing equipment medical records etcProperly maintains examinationprocedure rooms recovery areas nurses stations and all other clinical areasAdheres to Infection Control Safety and OSHA standards as specified by State Joint Commission and Company standardsMaintains knowledge of and complies with established State Joint Commission Company and any other applicable policies and proceduresStarts IV as needed after competency skills check offInstructs patients in simple procedurestests and dispenses appropriate educational materials clinical office onlyRelays provider orders to the patient clinical office onlyPrepares cleans and maintains all clinical equipment clinical office onlyDraws up injections to be administered clinical office onlyVerifies that radiological and laboratory records are received and in the patient chart If radiological andor laboratory records are not in the chart takes necessary steps to obtain the records clinical office onlyFits patients for durable medical equipment DME and completes all applicable paperwork as directed clinical office onlyObtains prior authorizations for radiology andor prescriptions as needed clinical office onlyKeeps rooms clean and stocked with supplies clinical office onlyLabels specimens accurately and distributes them to the appropriate personnel to ensure specimen integrity clinical office onlyProcesses specimens and prepares them for shipping clinical office onlyMaintain lab area with ample supplies and in a clean and safe condition clinical office onlyFollows test requirements of laboratory and procures unaltered urine specimen for testing clinical office onlyProperly maintains examination rooms and all other clinical areas clinical office onlyChecks work e mail on a regular basis throughout the workdayParticipate in and complete all required trainings and in servicesPerforms other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications
