Quest Diagnostics Incorporated in Tucker, GA is hiring a Problem Resolution Specimen Technician. The role operates Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM with a pay range of $20.35+ per hour.

Responsibilities include resolving specimen problems, coordinating with multiple departments, and ensuring accurate testing and timely reporting. This position emphasizes problem solving, strict adherence to SOPs, and effective communication.

Qualifications

  • Internal candidates will need a minimum of one year in Specimen TechIII/related role.
  • Preferred: minimum of 3 years Lab experience in a production environment; strong Specimen Processing background.

Responsibilities

  • Primary point-of-contact for resolution of common specimen problems and communication with internal departments to avoid testing delays and/or service failures.
  • May call clients to obtain resolution of problems.
  • Demonstrates competency of job duties and SOPs related to Specimen Processing problem resolution.
  • Interprets specimen tracking data using available resources (specimen logs, LIS, front-end automation, instrumentation).
  • Understands compliance policies related to test ordering, testing reporting, add-on tests, TNPs, reflex tests and custom panels.
  • Supports priority handling of samples with limited stability and issues impacting client/patient care.
  • Retrieves specimens from storage, investigates sample adequacy, researches test ordering information, specimen requirements and stability.
  • Enters TIQs/TNPs correctly and processes, documents, and reviews mislabeled/unlabeled specimens.
  • Identifies and escalates trending problems to management as appropriate.
  • Has working knowledge of MS Office and can run reports to manage workflow.

Problem Resolution Specimen Technician - Tucker, GA, Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM

Pay range: $20.35+ per hour

This positionactively works to identify and solve issues in regards to processing and testing laboratory specimens and has complete proficiency in all Specimen TechIII jobduties, ProblemResolutionTechs collaborate with Specimen Processing, Referral Testing, and Technical departments to research and resolve issues in order to expedite specimen testing and result reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports and/or provides priority handling of samples with limited stability and problems impacting client and patientcare
  • Demonstrates ability to correctly and efficiently retrieve specimens from storage, investigate sample adequacy, research test ordering information, specimen requirements andstability
  • Responsible for correctly entering TIQs/TNPs
  • Responsible for correctly processing, documenting, and reviewing mislabeled and unlabeledspecimens
  • Identifies and escalates trending problems to department management as appropriate.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Perform all other job duties asassigned
Qualifications:
Required WorkExperience:

Internal candidateswill need a minimum of one year in Specimen TechIII/relatedrole.

Preferred Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years Lab experience preferably in a production environment
  • Laboratory experience with strong Specimen Processing background preferred.
  • Medical background preferred which includes medicalterminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
  • Must meet productivity and quality standards of thedepartment
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks and work in a fast-pacedenvironment
  • Works in a biohazard environment, practicing good safetyhabits
  • Able to sit or stand for longperiods
