Job summary

The Manchester-Shortsville CSD (Red Jacket Schools) invites applications for a Probationary School Counselor (1.0 FTE) for the 2026-2027 school year. NYS School Counselor Certification is required and applications are due by September 30, 2026.

The counselor will provide academic, emotional, and social support to students, guiding them toward graduation and collaborating with staff to promote a caring school culture and college readiness.

Qualifications

• Degree in School Counseling or related field.
• New York State Certification as a School Counselor.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with administration, counseling staff, and department chairs to build the schedule.
• Assess student interests and abilities through individual planning.
• Advise students on academic and career pathways.
• Facilitate discussions and conflict resolution between students, teachers, and parents.
• Provide counseling and resources to individual students, small groups, and classrooms.
• Organize events to raise student awareness of social issues.
• Report on student well-being to the administration.
• Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
• Facilitate workshops on topics such as college readiness, mental health awareness, and conflict resolution.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of counseling sessions and student progress.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicatedSchool Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide academic, emotional, and social support to students, guiding them in their personal development and helping them navigate the challenges of high school.

Objectives of This Role:

• Ensure the student body demonstrates maturity and respect

Additional Requirements:

• Provides for his/her professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced coursework at institutions of higher learning




• Carries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education

Job Details:

• 7.5-hour day, 10-month, plus up to 20 summer work days per RJFA contract

Salary:

• Per RJFA contract, minimum $47,035, plus education and relevant experience
