Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, criminology, psychology, sociology, human relations, business or public administration or related field.
• One year specialist experience or completion of bachelor’s with superior academic achievement: 2.90 GPA or better, upper third of class, 3.5 average in major, or election to a National Honorary Scholastic Society.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a caseload of low-risk offenders under the guidance of a probation officer.
• Assist with presentence investigations, compiling histories and running record checks.
• Assist with pretrial services: interviews, investigations, and report preparation.
• Draft and submit selected reports and observe offender needs for community resources.
• Respond to judicial requests and occasionally testify in court with a supervising officer.
• Conduct collateral investigations and maintain records; perform urine tests as required.
• Translate for bilingual offenders when needed and operate probation systems.
• Participate in ongoing training and development.

Education

Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field
