Job summary

Prince William County Criminal Justice Services is seeking a full-time Probation/Pretrial Specialist to supervise and support clients using Evidence Based Practices. The role emphasizes risk assessment, case planning, and collaboration to reduce risk and promote public safety.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with 5 years of related experience; a bachelor's degree is preferred. Evening travel may be required, with typical Mon-Fri schedule and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 5 years of related experience (criminology, psychology, social services, counseling, or court-related work).
• Preferred: bachelor's degree in Criminology, Psychology, Social Services, Counseling, or related field with 5 years of probation/pretrial experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervision and support to probation/pretrial clients in the community.
• Develop and monitor case plans including follow-up.
• Conduct risk assessments and make referrals based on identified needs.
• Communicate effectively in writing and orally; engage in 1:1 case planning and client coaching.
