Job summary

Chatham County Government's Juvenile Court seeks a Probation Officer I to oversee juvenile caseloads, assess family needs, and coordinate social services. You will prepare reports, risk assessments, and court documents, and testify as required.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field, plus at least one year of case management or juvenile experience, and a valid driver's license. Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, Criminal Justice, or a closely related field.
• One year of experience in case management or working with juveniles; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Investigate delinquent and CHINS complaints to determine the appropriate course of action and make recommendations about detention.
• Prepare social histories, risk assessments, petitions, other court documents and testify in court.
• Supervise an assigned caseload of juvenile offenders, document progress and maintain records of cases.
• Assess the needs of juveniles and their families, make appropriate social service referrals, and monitor case progress.
• Analyze crises and make immediate decisions.
• Work closely with community social service agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
