You will have the opportunity to perform a variety of skilled administrative work supporting and assisting Deputy Probation Officers with caseload management activities, including reviewing cases, scheduling appointments, preparing information contracts, and entering progress notes in case files. You will perform routine data inquiries, including extractions and entries in local and state law enforcement computerized databases, create, gather, and distribute documents, files, and records and may also conduct interviews with clients participating in a Probation program to collect standard information and/or provide routine information and instructions to clients and families.

The ideal candidate for the Probation Assistant position is a motivated, detail-oriented, and dependable professional with a strong background in administrative support, ideally in law enforcement, corrections, or a community-based setting. They possess excellent organizational and communication skills, maintain strict confidentiality, and demonstrate sound judgment and adaptability in fast-paced environments. With a working knowledge of probation procedures, court processes, and behavioral sciences, they are skilled in casework support, recordkeeping, and engaging with diverse populations with empathy and professionalism. Proficient in modern office technologies, they efficiently manage multiple priorities while supporting department operations with accuracy. As a collaborative team member, they lead by example, foster a positive and inclusive work culture, and are deeply committed to integrity, service, continuous growth, and upholding the highest standards of conduct aligned with the Probation Department's mission and values.
Human Resources will assess your application to determine if you are minimally qualified using the following minimum qualifications:
Any combination of the required experience, education, and training that would provide the essential knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited institution with coursework in psychology, sociology, criminal justice, social work or other behavioral science, or a closely related field;
OR
Two (2) years of experience working with members of the public, keeping records, interpreting and applying laws and regulations, and working with people from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Prior experience with case work, behavioral assessments, law enforcement, custodial corrections, or community corrections is highly desirable.

This recruitment will establish a list for the purpose of filling current and future full time, part time, limited term and extra help vacancies for at least three (3) months. If you are interested in the position of Probation Assistant, please submit your application.
