Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in West Virginia is seeking a qualified Vascular Sonographer to perform advanced non-invasive imaging in the Vascular Laboratory. You will obtain patient information, operate equipment, ensure accurate documentation in EPIC, and collaborate with physicians to support timely diagnoses.

The role requires RVT or RVS certification within 2 years of hire (or ARDMS/CCI equivalent) and BLS within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Medical Imaging Program.
• RVT or RVS certification within 2 years of hire.
• Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced non-invasive imaging procedures for Vascular Laboratories.
• Performs proper billing of procedures and prioritizes patient scheduling.
• Coordinates and prioritizes patient scheduling to ensure timely completion.
• Obtains procedure information and answers patient questions while maintaining courtesy.
• Documents procedures in patient chart and reports preliminary findings to physician.
• Maintains equipment, rooms, and a clean work environment in the Vascular Laboratory.
• Completes documentation in EPIC to ensure proper billing.
• Participates in training and education to stay current with vascular techniques.
• Provides preliminary report on studies and reviews with physician.
• Follows vascular protocols and policies; supports training of staff.

Job description

Performs advanced Vascular Sonography procedures in order to facilitate appropriate diagnosis and treatment of patients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Graduate of an accredited Medical Imaging Program.

2. Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within 2 years of hire.

3. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1.Performs advanced non-invasive imaging procedures for Vascular Laboratories.

1. Performs proper billing of procedures and prioritize patient scheduling.

2. Coordinates and prioritizes patient scheduling in order to insure procedure completion in a timely fashion.

3. Prior to testing, obtains information for specific procedures to be performed, answer pertinent questions to patients concerning procedures and are courteous to patients and their families 100% of the time.

4. Performs all non-invasive imaging procedures within established guidelines and timeframes.

5. Notifies appropriate medical staff if there are significant abnormal findings.

6. Documents procedure performed within patient chart to inform the physician that the test has been completed.

7. Calculates and measures vascular structures from procedure data in order to aid the physician in interpreting results and achieving a diagnosis.

8. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of the equipment, procedure rooms and work areas of the Vascular Laboratories.

9. Completes accurate documentation through EPIC to ensure proper billing.

10. Participates in education and in-service opportunities in order to maintain and enhance knowledge.

11. Provides preliminary report on study performed in a timely manner. Reviews preliminary report with physician.

12. Follows and implement Vascular protocols and policies.

13. Participates in the training of vascular ultrasound techniques and procedures.
