Job summary

Southwood Children’s Behavioral Healthcare in Pittsburgh seeks an experienced PRN/Per Diem Therapist/Social Service Coordinator to support the Acute Inpatient program for children and adolescents.

Responsibilities include psychosocial assessments, individual/group/family therapy, treatment planning, and collaboration with the treatment team. Requires a Master’s in a related field and licensure eligibility, plus CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services field required.
• One or more years’ experience working with comparable patient population required.
• State or national licensure for professional therapy providers or eligible for state licensure.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.

Responsibilities

• Assess and provide clinical services for children and adolescents with behavioral health disorders.
• Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop an initial discharge plan.
• Conduct individual, group or family therapy sessions as appropriate for the treatment plan.
• Provide initial treatment planning and coordinate additional services; revise as needed.
• Maintain documentation of therapy services according to standards and revise as indicated.
• Maintain a caseload as assigned and participate in treatment teams.
• May provide services in inpatient or outpatient settings and perform case management/discharge planning as needed.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude; address patient concerns and safety as a priority.

Job description

Southwood Children’s Behavioral Healthcare offers comprehensive mental health treatment programs for children and adolescents ages 3-21 whose lives have been disrupted by mental illness. Our facility located in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, provides many levels of care to help children heal from the mental health challenge they are facing.

We are looking to add an experienced PRN/Per Diem Therapist/Social Service Coordinator to work in out Acute Inpatient program.

Please note that all staff in a patient facing role must be at least 21 years of age . Southwood is not on a public transportation route.

Purpose Statement

Assess, diagnose and provide clinical services for those with behavioral health disorders

Essential Functions

• Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed emotional and behavioral disorders.
• Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan.
• Conduct individual, group or family sessions as appropriate for the treatment plan of the patient.
• Provide initial treatment planning for patient based on assessment and coordinate any additional services needed, revising as necessary.
• Maintain documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards and revising as indicated by facility or professional standard.
• Maintain a caseload as assigned.
• Participate in treatment team meetings and collaborate with other staff to facilitate services for the patient, as appropriate to their treatment plan.
• May provide these services in an inpatient or outpatient setting.
• May perform case management, discharge or after care planning as needed.
• Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always. When patient needs are not met, acknowledge and work to resolve complaints. Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or Human Services field required.
• One or more years’ experience working with comparable patient population required.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
