Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health in Spartanburg, SC is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform radiographic procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist. Responsibilities include operating X-ray equipment, ensuring image quality, and supporting fluoroscopic and interventional procedures.

The ideal candidate will have AMA-approved program completion, ARRT licensure, and SC Certification, with 0–3 years of technologist experience. This is an on-site role with potential PRN shifts.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technologist.
  • Zero- to three years' experience at technologist level.
  • Current South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Certification.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist License.

Responsibilities

  • Operate X-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated body portions and adjust equipment for proper exposure.
  • Evaluate X-ray images for technical quality and document results in PACS per protocol.
  • Assist other healthcare professionals with imaging procedures, IVs, oral contrast, and contrast injections when applicable.
  • Assist radiologists with fluoroscopic X-ray and interventional procedures in the department and other areas with portable equipment.

Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina, United States

Job Description

We are a comprehensive breast imaging center providing services across nine fixed locations and two Mobile Mammography Units. The expert and caring staff at Bearden-Josey Center for Breast Health are fellowship-trained, board-certified specialists who focus on breast health. We conduct hundreds of mammograms each week and diagnose and treat more than four hundred patients each year. Under the supervision of a Radiologist, you will utilize specialized knowledge and skills to produce high-quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures, and DEXA exams for specified patient population. As an imaging professional, you’ll be aligned with the latest technology, evidence-based medicine, and clinical research.

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Radiology and the Medical Director, the staff radiographer performs radiographic procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply ionized radiation prescribed by physicians for radiologic diagnosis.

Minimum Requirements

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of tasks involved in operating X-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated body portions; adjust equipment for proper radiographic exposure techniques in accordance with radiation safety guidelines.
  • Evaluate X-ray images for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence per protocol, appropriately label, complete appropriate documentation on all systems, mark review and transmit to PACS in a timely manner.
  • Assist other healthcare professionals with imaging procedures, starting IVs, delivering oral contrast, and injecting contrast when applicable.
  • Assist radiologists/physicians with fluoroscopic X-ray and interventional procedures in the department and other areas where portable radiographic equipment is utilized.
  • Positive response and implementation of change when needed, and demonstrate good decision-making skills.
  • Assist with quality control and maintenance of all equipment in the area.
  • Properly utilize accessory equipment such as injectors, patient moving devices, stretchers, warmers, scanners, printers, and PACS workstations.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients; report changes in patient condition to medical staff; provide an oral and/or written clinical history to the radiologist and other healthcare professionals.
  • Assist in training new staff and students during clinical rotations.
  • Follow and help implement hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Consistently communicate with patients, guests, staff, and physicians in a positive manner.
  • Be knowledgeable of compliance and regulatory requirements and adhere to federal, state, accrediting bodies, and standard practice of care for patients, staff, guests, and facilities.
  • Adhere to departmental procedures and protocols.
  • Participate in rotating call schedules for after hours and holidays where applicable.
  • Ensure correct charging of procedures and supplies daily.
  • Work as a team member with peers and other departments; respond calmly and efficiently to situations.
  • Regularly attend departmental meetings, in-services, and actively participate in continuing education activities.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervisor or manager.
  • May be assigned additional shifts as required to meet departmental needs.
