Job summary

Eye Health America in Seneca, South Carolina, is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support surgical procedures by assisting the surgeon and nurse. The role requires preparing the operating room, maintaining supplies, and ensuring a sterile environment during surgeries.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year of surgical experience or completion of a surgical technician program. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and a matching 401(k).

Qualifications

• At least one year of surgical experience or completion of a formal surgical technician program required.
• Surgical Technologist certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing the operating room for the planned procedure.
• Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies.
• Set up a sterile operating field with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Observe strict aseptic technique throughout the procedure.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and sutures to the surgeon and assistants as needed.
• Ensure all instruments and supplies are removed from the operative field.

Job description

This individual is responsible for assisting the surgeon and nurse in rendering professional care to patients undergoing surgical procedures within the center in accordance with established procedures. Overtime may be required.

Job Responsibilities

• Assists in preparing the operating room for the planned procedure.
• Assists with maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies.
• Sets up sterile operating field with instruments and supplies necessary for that procedure; arranges instruments, sutures, drapes, and supplies per AORN standards.
• Observes strict aseptic technique throughout the entire procedure and report break-in technique to the circulating nurse and the surgeon.
• Passes instruments, supplies, and sutures to the surgeon and assistants as needed and in such a manner so that their attention is not diverted from the operative field.
• Sees that all instruments, needles, sponges, and other supplies are removed from the operative field.
