Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital seeks a Surgical Technologist to support perioperative care in a fast-paced operating room. This PRN position offers hands-on experience assisting surgeons and RNs, preparing sterile fields, passing instruments and maintaining sterile technique under supervision.

Ideal candidates will have formal surgical technology training and BLS certification, with strong teamwork and attention to safety in a high-demand environment focused on patient-centered care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program accredited through the CAAHEP or ABHES.
• OR completion of a military surgical technology program.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist (TS-C/CST) through NCCT or NBSTSA.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality, individualized patient care in perioperative, intraoperative and postoperative phases.
• Follow perioperative guidelines established by authoritative bodies.
• Review daily assignments and confirm surgeon-specific preferences and anesthesia.
• Identify and prioritize individual patient care needs.
• Plan care based on procedure, standards of practice, and MD preferences.
• Assemble, check and open sterile packs and instruments.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and safety in the department.
• Comply with standards for patient positioning, Skin prep, counting and side-site verification.
• Remain with sterile setup to maintain the sterile field.
• Assist with draping the sterile field.
• Report and correct any break in sterile technique.
• Prepare and edit surgeon's preference lists for quality care.
• Communicate pertinent information during procedures and changes in staffing.
• Ensure equipment and supplies are used appropriately and returned to their proper location.
