Seaside Health System in Baton Rouge, LA is seeking a PRN Speech Therapist to join our Behavioral Health Hospital team. The Speech-Language Pathologist will evaluate referred patients, develop treatment plans, implement therapy, and coordinate with physicians to ensure effective care.

Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, a Louisiana license, and current CPR/CPI certification.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Current Louisiana licensure.
  • Current CPR certification or training.
  • Current CPI certification or training.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate all patients referred by their physicians with a written order, developing a treatment program including functional long-term and short-term goals
  • Provide treatment as ordered by the attending physician, interpreting, planning, and exercising proper treatment programs
  • Contact physicians for patient reports and care as needed, observing, recording, and reporting patient reactions to therapy programs
  • Instruct, teach, and supervise patients and family/caregivers regarding Speech therapy procedures
  • Adhere to all applicable federal, state, local, facility, and company standards of care and ethics
  • Meet productivity and utilization expectations
  • Complete timely clinical documentation

Work Environment:
  • This job operates in a healthcare setting, requiring regular walking to various locations around the hospital
  • Incumbent may be exposed to viruses, diseases, and infections from patients and specimens
  • Incumbent may be required to work extended periods at a desktop/laptop computer
  • Incumbent may experience traumatic situations, including psychiatric and deceased patients
Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to talk and hear
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • This position is very active, requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day
  • Frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds

  • No travel is expected for this position
