WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals in Morgantown, WV is seeking a Speech-Language Pathologist to join the Acute Rehabilitation Unit Therapy Services. The role involves evaluation and treatment of speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive-linguistic needs within an interdisciplinary team.

Licensure in WV or equivalent, ASHA CCC or eligibility within 48 months, and BLS within 30 days are required. Supervisory duties for graduate students may be included as part of the position.

Qualifications

• Current licensure as Speech-Language Pathologist in WV or applicable temporary/provisional state license.
• ASHA CCC or eligibility to obtain within 48 months of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide coordinated patient care with an interdisciplinary team, including assessment and rehabilitation plans.
• Evaluate speech, language, swallowing and cognitive needs; revise treatment priorities as needed.
• Document treatments and progress in the hospital EMR and communicate with referring providers.
• Supervise graduate assistants/interns and coordinate student schedules.
• Participate in the Rehabilitation Services Performance Improvement program.

Documents all treatments, according to department policies and procedures, as monitored by supervision, by documentation review, and consultation with referring Provider3. Performs evaluation of patient response to tasks performed and delegated.4. Participates in the Performance Improvement program of the Rehabilitation Services department with emphasis on speech therapy, to assure the delivery of appropriate , timely , and cost-effective services.5. May supervise assigned graduate assistants/interns, students and volunteers. Assigns schedules for students to participate in evaluation and treatment of patients conducted in the clinical setting. Approves graduate student lesson plans, reports, documentation in hospital EMR, or appropriate written communication for assigned patients. Provides feedback to students during supervised sessions. Discusses techniques, goals, and materials to be used in therapy sessions.
