Job summary

PediaTrust in Denham Springs, LA, is seeking a Part-time PRN Registered Nurse to work with a CNA/DCW to provide total care for children, administer medications, and implement care plans.

The role requires pediatric nursing experience, BLS and CPR certification, and an active Louisiana RN license. You will monitor vital signs, respond to emergencies, maintain records, and collaborate with families.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor pediatric patients' health throughout the day.
• Monitor vitals and report condition changes.
• Administer medications, injections, IVs per care plans.
• Ensure infection control and safety procedures are followed.
• Use medical equipment safely and correctly.
• Assist children with feeding, mobility, and daily care.
• Respond to medical emergencies with CPR and first aid.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians on care plans and updates.
• Keep up-to-date medical records and HIPAA compliance.
• Work a minimum of two shifts per month.

Job description

Part- time (PRN) Registered Nurse

Work alongside a CNA/DCW to provide total care for up to 6 children. Administering medications, treatments, emergency action, help develop and implement care plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor the physical and emotional health of children throughout the day recognizing and reporting signs of distress.
• Monitor vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and temperature, and report changes in condition.
• Administer prescribed medications, injections, IVs, and treatments according to individual care plans and emergency protocols.
• Ensure proper hygiene and prevent infections, safe handling practices, infection control and safety procedures are followed.
• Ensure the appropriate use of medical equipment such as feeding tubes, oxygen therapy, ventilators, and other specialized devices.
• Assist children with complex medical matters requiring assistance with feeding, mobility, restroom, tubes, lifting, and other needs.
• Respond promptly yet calmly and decisively to medical emergencies providing CPR, first aid, and other life‑saving procedures as needed.
• Work closely with parents and guardians to understand the child's medical needs, care protocols, health updates, incidents, and concerns.
• Ensure care plans are updated and followed.
• Maintain accurate medical records of all health assessments, medications, treatments, incidents and ensure compliance with state health and safety guidelines and HIPAA.
• Requirement: minimum of 2 shifts per month

Required Qualifications:

• Pediatric Nursing: 2 years
• BLS Certification
• Current StateRN License
• CPR Certified

Preferred Qualifications:

• Use of relevant medical equipment or administering medications
• Caring for children who have chronic illnesses or disabilities
• PALS Certified
