Job summary

Daniel Memorial Inc. is seeking a PRN Residential Counselor in Jacksonville, FL. The role is on-call, with varying shifts (7:00–3:00, 7:00–19:00, 11:00–11:00) and a minimum commitment of 3 days per month.

Starting pay is $16.00/hour with an Associate/Bachelor’s degree or $17.00/hour with a Master’s or higher, based on education and experience. The position involves providing care per the treatment plan for adolescents, maintaining hygiene and safety, and collaborating with the treatment team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide care and treatment per the client’s treatment plan as a member of the treatment team
• Implement cottage activities of daily living per program guidelines
• Maintain clients’ hygiene, grooming, clothing and infection control procedures
• Set appropriate limits with clients and supervise activities and appointments
• Escort clients to activities on or off campus as needed
• Lead recreational activities and model professional behavior
• Intervene appropriately with aggressive clients as per guidelines
• Communicate with clients, parents, peers, and the public respectfully
• Complete departmental and agency schedules and reports

Description:

The PRNResidential Counselor(dedicated to our adolescent clients) is responsible for providing care and treatment as outlined in the client’s treatment plan. Functions as a member of the client’s treatment team as outlined in the policy and procedures manual.

• Effectively implements cottage activities of daily living outlined by program operating guidelines.
• Maintains clients’ personal hygiene, cleanliness, grooming, clothing and adheres to infection control procedures and practices universal precautions.
• Effectively and appropriately sets limits with clients that are appropriate to the situation.
• Escorts clients safely to activities or appointments on or off campus as needed.
• Adheres to established guidelines for observing clients on special precautions.
• Lead recreational activities to role model and encourage client participation.
• Models appropriate and professional behavior (i.e., dress, habits, personality, tact, etc.).
• Adheres to proper guidelines and procedures for intervening with physically aggressive clients.
• Relates with clients, parents, peers, & the general public in a respectful and professional manner.
• Ensures that client needs and services are provided within departmental guidelines.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the disaster and safety plans.
• Maintains a professional attitude with others & Actively supports agency philosophy and goals.

Physical Demands:

• The employee will be required to talk, hear and see; be able successfully complete Crisis Prevention training which requires physical components, including bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling and lifting, to ensure the safety of clients and staff; stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time.
