Universal Health Services, Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking a PRN Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist to support in inpatient settings within the Clinical Services team.

The CTRS will plan, implement and document recreational therapy interventions aligned with interdisciplinary treatment plans. The role requires CTRS or CTRAC certification, a Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or related field, and hospital experience.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in kinesiology or related field.
• Experience: One year hospital experience.
• Certifications: Current certification as a CTRS or CTRAC.
• Additional Requirements: Computer skills. Flexible hours.

Responsibilities

• Provides efficient management and understanding of recreational recreation activities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of purposeful interventions, active treatments as it relates to recreation therapy.
• Effectively assesses the therapeutic recreational needs of patients.
• Sets measurable treatment goals as part of the interdisciplinary treatment plan.
• Plans and facilitates recreational therapy groups as scheduled per unit.
• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the age of patients served.
• Provides an assortment of leisure activities to develop the understanding of benefits of ongoing health and fitness practices to improve social interaction and health lifestyle.
• Documents and inventories supplies, maintains recreation areas and equipment.
• Plans and implements treatment interventions to meet patient recreation needs.
• Provides written documentation per patient per group daily.
• Communicates the patient’s therapeutic recreation needs to the treatment team.
