Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery is seeking a Radiology Technologist for PRN shifts in Blacksburg, VA. The role involves preparing patients, performing general radiographic procedures, and ensuring radiation safety per ALARA guidelines.

You will operate mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment, manage records in electronic systems, and participate in ongoing education to maintain ARRT standards. Call duties after hours are required.

Qualifications

• Prepares patients and collects information for procedures.
• Performs general diagnostic radiographic procedures.
• Maintains radiation safety and ALARA compliance.
• Operates mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment.
• Uses electronic information systems and compiles records.
• Takes call after hours as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients and collects relevant information for completion of procedures.
• Performs all appropriate general diagnostic radiographic procedures.
• Observant of patients’ conditions.
• Practices and enforces radiation safety as described in Federal standards, utilizing ALARA policy.
• Understands and operates electronic information systems.
• Compiles appropriate records to expedite results.
• Successfully operates mobile radiographic and fluoroscopic equipment within the department, in the OR, and throughout the hospital.
• Participates in continuing education activities to expand/enhance their knowledge of diagnostic radiology and to meet the continuing education requirements of the ARRT.
• Takes call after regular hours as assigned.
• Assures primary area is clean and organized. Offers to assist in other areas of the department when not needed in primary area. Performs clerical and transport duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
