Job summary

San Juan Regional Medical Center is seeking a Radiologic Technologist to perform diagnostic radiology imaging with a focus on quality and patient care. The role supports OR, ICU, and ED as needed and requires adherence to HIPAA and professional communication standards.

Responsibilities

  • Performs basic radiologic procedures at a professional and technical level with minimal supervision.
  • Understands basic reporting systems for imaging procedures.
  • Provides coverage for OR, ICU, and ED as needed.
  • Maintains, cleans, and re-stocks radiology rooms after procedures.
  • Transports patients as needed and adheres to hospital dress code.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and demonstrates professional communication.
  • Upholds SJRMC Service Standards: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, Stewardship.

Required Qualifications:
  • Completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
  • Registered NM State Certification for Radiologic Technology
  • Physical demands: lifting a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
  • Maintains current BLS certification
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs basic Radiologic procedures at a professional and technical level not requiring constant supervision and utilizing industry standards.
  • Understands the basic reporting system for position.
  • Provides knowledgeable coverage for the O.R., ICU, and E.D. departments as needed.
  • Understands the usage of the D.R. system, transfer and viewing of images through the P.A.C.S. system.
  • Understands the ordering system through the R.I.S. (Radiology Information System) and E.M.R. system.
  • Understands triaging radiology exams and contacting radiologist for procedures.
  • Understands use of afterhours teleradiology system.
  • Maintains, cleans, and re-stocks each radiologic exam room when procedure is completed.
  • Transports patients as needed.
  • Adheres to SJRMC radiology dress code.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all hospital matters (i.e., HIPAA).
  • Practices good communication skills.
  • Conducts self in a professional manner consistent with the values of San Juan Regional Medical Center.
  • Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs.
  • Attends meetings, workshops and conventions to increase clinical skills.
  • Provides professional communication with staff and patients.
  • Implements SJRMC’s Service Standards into daily work: Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship.
Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
  • Exposure to radiation hazards through radiology procedures
  • Exposure to body fluids through direct contact, IV procedures, infection, and/or contagious diseases
  • Prolonged standing
  • Must be physically able to lift, move, push, or pull patients
  • Provide multiple and directional guidance during procedures to patients with care and compassion
  • Interaction with potential verbally abusive patients
