Job summary

Elara Caring seeks a Physical Therapist Assistant to support home-based patient care under a supervising Physical Therapist. You will help patients work toward mobility goals, monitor progress, and educate families on home therapy strategies.

Qualified candidates hold an active PTA license in Louisiana, with 6+ months of experience preferred, and must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and travel between patient homes using reliable transportation.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted PTA license valid for the state of work (Louisiana)
• Graduate of an accredited PTA program
• 6+ months PTA experience preferred
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lb and transfer patients
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to travel between patient homes

Responsibilities

• Provide PT services per the treatment plan by the supervising PT
• Help patients reach therapy goals improving mobility and independence
• Monitor patient progress and report changes promptly
• Educate patients/caregivers on home therapy and techniques
• Teach use of assistive devices (canes, walkers, wheelchairs, prosthetics)
• Deliver safe therapy in line with physician orders and guidelines

Job Description

• Provide physical therapy services according to the treatment plan established by the Physical Therapist.
• Help patients work toward therapy goals that improve mobility, function, and independence.
• Monitor patient progress and promptly report changes in condition or concerns to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Educate patients and caregivers on home therapy programs and techniques to support continued progress.
• Teach patients and families how to safely use assistive devices, including canes, walkers, wheelchairs, prosthetics, and orthotics.
• Deliver safe, high-quality therapy services in accordance with physician orders, clinical standards, and state practice guidelines

What is Required?

• Current, unrestricted PTA license valid for the state of work
• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy assistant program approved by the American Therapy Association
• 6+ months experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant is preferred
• Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and support up to 50 pounds, including positioning or transferring patients and moving equipment
• Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an acceptable driving record, OR have reliable transportation to travel between patient homes and assigned work locations
