Job summary

USPI New Mexico Surgery Center - Orthopaedics is seeking a proactive RN for the Pre-Op/PACU area on a PRN basis. You will plan and coordinate care for patients in the Pre-Operative department, perform assessments, and provide perioperative instruction.

The role requires an RN license, strong communication, and ability to work without weekends. You will contribute to a high-quality, service-oriented surgical environment and collaborate with anesthesia and surgery teams.

Qualifications

• Plans, coordinates, and oversees care for patients in Pre-Op department.
• Provides care within nursing standards and Center policies.
• Communicates information to team members about direct patient care needs.
• May participate in committees, quality audits, and projects.
• Ensures proper documentation and patient privacy and dignity.

Responsibilities

• Effectively organizes time, equipment, and personnel.
• Uses equipment and provides appropriate care for patients.
• Maintains Pre-Operative area cleanliness and stock levels.
• Performs thorough Pre-Operative patient assessment.
• Assists in explaining perioperative experience to patients and families.
• Obtains patient records and performs Pre-Operative testing as needed.
• Documents care and ensures chart completion before surgery.
