Job summary

VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a PRN Physician at Ellsworth Correctional Facility in Ellsworth, KS. The Site Medical Director serves as the responsible physician and health authority for the site, overseeing clinical services and ensuring delivery of essential medical care with on-call support.

The position requires a medical degree, state license, and DEA registration, with preferred board certification in Family or Internal Medicine and corrections experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited medical school.
• Fully licensed to practice in the state of employment.
• Current DEA Registration.
• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine with corrections/managed care experience.
• Must be fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Must be a supportive team member with strong teamwork.
• Able to make independent decisions when necessary.
• Able to interact professionally with staff, patients, and public.

Responsibilities

• Consult with medical providers to resolve issues in delivering services.
• Supervise clinical services provided by staff.
• Ensure and provide on-call services.
• Review and approve clinical protocols and disaster plans.
• Manage referrals to outside facilities for quality and continuity of care.
• Sponsor Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners as appropriate.
