Job summary

Cardinal Health, in partnership with PAM Health, is expanding its health systems pharmacy team in Waterbury, CT. We are hiring a PRN Technician to work as needed, with pharmacy hours Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm.

The Technician II will support pharmacists in routine operations, manage Pyxis and inventory, process orders, and help ensure accurate, compliant dispensing while maintaining safety and customer service.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent (or equivalent work experience).
  • Active CT Pharmacy Technician License required.
  • National Pharmacy Technician certification (PTCB) or ability to obtain preferred.
  • Inpatient/hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Pyxis experience preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • May require vendor credentialing.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Stand, bend and reach for long shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Pharmacist in daily operations of the health systems pharmacy.
  • Manage Pyxis/patient-specific bin items and inventory.
  • Process product returns and remove expired medications.
  • Prepack and label medications; fill Pyxis; deliver medications after pharmacist verification.
  • Input patient data and order information into the pharmacy system.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, compliant pharmacy environment.
  • Communicate with healthcare professionals and patients professionally.
  • Adhere to all pharmacy laws and company regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Cardinal Health provides comprehensive clinical and operational pharmacy services for PAM Health, a nationwide healthcare provider for Rehabilitation and Long-Term Acute Care. PAM is expanding with a 42-bed Acute Inpatient Rehabilitation Services into Waterbury, CT. We are hiring a PRN Technician to work as needed. Pharmacy Hours- Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy supports the Pharmacist in the daily operations of the pharmacy. Key responsibilities include managing the automatic dispensing cabinet (Pyxis)/patient specific bin items, conducting inventory checks, processing product returns, removing expired medications, prepacking medications as necessary, purchasing medications based on pharmacy needs and inventory costs, and returning any recalled items.
  • The Technician II, Health Systems Pharmacy ensures that all orders are reviewed by a registered pharmacist and records all activity in compliance with regulatory and company guidelines.
  • This job frequently communicates with other healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment.
  • Assists the Pharmacist as needed, permitted by State Boards of Pharmacy.
  • Takes inventory, places orders, checks in drugs and supplies, stocks shelves and removes out-of-date items from the inventory.
  • Maintains a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Inputs patient data and order information as needed into the pharmacy information management system.
  • Fill and label medications.
  • Refill Pyxis and deliver patient specific medications after pharmacist verification.
  • Prepares and compounds sterile IV mixtures as required.
  • Communicates with all healthcare professionals and patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Maintains knowledge of and abides by all applicable pharmacy laws and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to use technology such as computers, smart phones and tablets.
  • May require vendor credentialing.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, lift and stand for entire shift.
Salary and Benefits
  • Anticipated hourly range: $21.20 per hour - $27.18 per hour
