Job description

PRN Pharmacist – Smyrna, GA

Manage the prescription fulfillment process from within the pharmacy. Serve as a link between patient, physician and pharmacy by performing the following duties:

  • Responsible for daily completion of all activities related to dispensing prescriptions in accordance with the organization's policies and all applicable laws by following standard operating procedures for ordering, receiving, filling, dispensing, logging and maintaining loss prevention controls. Verifies that each prescription is accurately filled with the correct medication, in the appropriate dosage, and in the correct quantity.
  • Oversee supportive personnel, dispensing of medications, performing prescription transfers, drug interaction reviews and drug utilization reviews.
  • Proficient in completing all aspects of daily prescription processing duties of the pharmacist including the proper handling, usage, storage and shipping of drugs in the pharmacy. Maintains standards set by the department and translates policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy. Responsible for acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug related information and literature.
  • Fosters an environment that nurtures collaboration, teamwork, and mutual respect through effective communication, and demonstrates positive communication skills evidenced by effective working relationships.
