Job summary

Encompass Health in Austin, TX is seeking a Nutrition Services Aide on a PRN/As Needed basis to support therapeutic diets and meal services for patients and staff.

You will handle food preparation, portioning, and tray assembly, while adhering to safety guidelines and hospital procedures. This role offers flexible scheduling and opportunities to grow in a national rehabilitation leader.

Qualifications

• Food safety guidelines knowledge preferred.
• Food handling and hygiene practices.
• Experience with therapeutic or modified diets preferred.
• Recent institutional cooking experience preferred.
• May require weekday/weekend/evening/night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Maintain proper temperature for hot and cold foods.
• Interpret recipes and follow written/verbal orders.
• Break down carts and remove scraps from patient trays.
• Assemble/deliver late patient trays, supplements and special requests.
• Portion, weigh, and garnish food according to menus/diet instructions.
• Assemble patient trays to meet time tables.
• Assist patients in completing menus.
• Clean and sanitize all assigned areas.
• Organize, plan, and manage time effectively to complete assignments.
