Job summary

Casper Medical Imaging PC is seeking a dedicated individual to assist technologists in ensuring patient safety and quality care in a supportive environment. Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, scheduling, and ensuring patients are prepared for exams.

The ideal candidate should have a high school diploma or associate degree with medical certifications like CNA, MA, or Phlebotomy. Candidates with relevant healthcare experience and strong interpersonal skills are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

  • Must comply with Outpatient Radiology duties and pass background check.

Job description

Job Overview

Assists technologist in maintaining patient safety and quality patient care in a caring environment and assisting with the movement of patients from check‑in to check‑out. Ensure the safety of the patient before and during the exam.

Primary Job Responsibilities
  • Obtain medical/surgical history from a patient and communicate with the technologist as needed.
  • Monitor and adjust patient scheduling to ensure effective workflow and alert the supervisor when patients have been waiting more than 15 minutes or the schedule is running behind.
  • Explain the exam to the patient.
  • Work closely with the technologist to ensure patient safety during exam phases.
  • Assist the technologist in preparing the exam room and positioning the patient, including patient lifting, IV placement, equipment selection, and linen changes.
  • Assist in preparing paperwork and patient schedule for the following day.
  • Perform any other duties necessary to ensure patient safety and maintain workflow.
  • Stock supplies, clean, and assist with in‑house laundry.
  • Maintain attention to detail, situational awareness, and effective communication skills.
Education

High school diploma or associate degree. Training may be available in hospitals, vocational‑technical institutions, or the Armed Forces. Certifications such as CNA, MA, or Phlebotomy are acceptable.

Experience

Prior medical setting requiring medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology. 1–2 years of healthcare experience, with MA or Phlebotomy background preferred.

Other Requirements
  • Must comply with all duties, policies, and requirements of Outpatient Radiology and applicable agencies.
  • Must pass drug and alcohol screening.
  • Successfully pass a background check and be in good standing with OIG, CMS, SAMS, and all other state and federal agencies as applicable.
Knowledge
  • Medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, instrumentation, fundamental physics, patient care, and medical ethics.
  • Safety, infection control, and quality improvement practices to establish a safe work environment.
Skills
  • Communication and interpersonal interaction skills.
  • Ability to identify patient safety issues and notify the supervisor.
  • Situational awareness and safety awareness.
Abilities
  • Lift and position patients using correct body mechanics.
  • Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to patients and other employees.
  • Use Microsoft Office, PACS, or EMR competently.
  • Explain technical procedures and results to patients in a user‑friendly manner.
  • Calm nervous patients.
  • Multi‑task efficiently and effectively.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management, and peers.
Work Environment

Combination of exam rooms and technical console area. May work in close quarters. Exposure to disease, radiation, biohazard materials, and toxic chemicals while performing job duties.

Physical Requirements

Stand 6–8 hours daily. Bending, stooping, squatting, reaching above shoulders, twisting, turning, kneeling, pushing, and pulling are required. Heavy lifting of 75+ lbs may be required to move equipment and transfer patients. Occasional stress when working with anxious patients or difficult exams.
