Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician to perform routine to high-complexity testing on blood and body fluids in a hospital lab. You will ensure accuracy through QC, run instrument checks, and maintain records in compliance with regulations.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Medical Technology or related field, plus 2+ years' lab experience. ASCP MT/MLT and BLS certifications are required or must be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• Equival ent combination of education and laboratory experience totaling at least 2 years.
• MT (ASCP) or equivalent required.
• MLT (ASCP) certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.
• Current BLS certification through the AHA required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory testing on blood and body fluids.
• Ensure accurate and reliable results through strict QC protocols.
• Conduct instrument function checks and preventative maintenance per dept. standards.
• Maintain required records and statistics in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assist in training new employees and students on procedures.
• Collect chain-of-custody urine drug screens as required.
