Job summary

Cedar County Memorial Hospital is seeking PRN Medical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Technologists to support inpatient, outpatient, and ED duties. You will perform specimen collection, testing, result reporting, and operate/laboratory equipment per regulatory standards.

The role requires certification as MLT or MT with ASCP/AMT, strong accuracy, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital lab. An on-site sleep room is available for extended shifts.

Qualifications

• Current Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification.
• ASCP or AMT certification required, licensure if applicable.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient specimens via phlebotomy or approved collection methods.
• Label, process, and transport specimens for in-house or referral testing.
• Perform laboratory testing and bench work per procedures and quality standards.
• Analyze, interpret, and report results accurately and timely.
• Maintain quality control documentation and calibration of equipment.
• Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
• Enter data and results into EMR and other systems; perform clerical duties as needed.
• Communicate with providers, nurses, patients, and staff regarding results.
