Job summary

Baptist Nassau is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant II to join our Laboratory department. This PRN on-site role supports Anatomic Pathology procedures and outpatient phlebotomy, working closely with the Medical Director.

Ideal candidates will have a High School Diploma (Associates preferred), and Phlebotomy Certification. Prior specimen processing experience is advantageous, with responsibilities ranging from phlebotomy to specimen transport and processing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; Associates Degree preferred; Phlebotomy Certification preferred.
• Specimen processing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform the duties of a phlebotomist in an outpatient laboratory setting.
• Utilize computer system in the processing of laboratory specimens.
• Retrieve specimens from pneumatic tube system and process according to specimen type.
• Distribute specimens to different areas of the laboratory.
• Coordinate specimen pickups for referral testing.
• Prepare specimen transfer lists and package specimens in accordance with laboratory policy for transport.
