PRN Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Outpatient Float Pool

This position is located at UH Lakewood Medical Center, part of University Health Truman Medical Center, in Kansas City, Missouri. It is a part-time role with work hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 4 hours per week, within the department of Float Pool OP UHTMC.

Job Overview

This role is open to both Certified Medical Assistant and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) candidates.

For Medical Assistants:

• Prepare patients for exams, check vitals, and assist with minor procedures.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and collect specimens.
• Maintain accurate records in electronic medical records (EMR).
• Support providers and participate in team activities.
• Educate patients about their care and treatment plans.

Qualifications for Medical Assistants:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, NRCMA, or CCMA) at the time of hire.
• Current BLS certification or ability to obtain before starting.
• Knowledge of POCT, immunizations, and injections.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications and EMR systems.

For Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN):

Provide compassionate nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse across various settings, including acute, long-term, home health, and outpatient care. Responsibilities include assessments, administering medications, and documentation.

Qualifications for LPN:

• Graduation from an accredited practical or vocational nursing program.
• Current LPN licensure in Missouri.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
