Job summary

Tryon Medical Partners is seeking a PRN Medical Assistant Intern to support the SouthPark Dermatology team. This role offers hands-on exposure in a medical setting with duties including patient prep, vital signs, chart documentation, and collaboration with physicians.

Eligibility includes enrollment in or completion of a medicine-focused program, proficiency with MS Office, and vaccination/ TB test requirements. Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in or have a degree from an accredited university/college with a focus on medicine; on track to return to medical school or PA program.
• Proficient computer skills including MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Vaccination administration training required (online and in-person).
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills; able to work without supervision.
• Hepatitis B/Flu vaccine forms and TB test completion; maintain BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, collect history and document in chart.
• Assist patients with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens.
• Assemble health information including symptoms, history, exam results and treatment plans.
• Ensure reports, labs and information are available in patients’ medical records prior to appointments.
• Review forms to ensure completion, proper identification and signing in the EHR.
• Communicate with physicians to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information.
• Obtain and send patient medical records to support seamless care delivery.
• Opportunity for hands-on experience across lab, registration, care coordination, and more.
• Administer injections after completing Tryon training certification.
• Other duties as assigned.

PRN Medical Assistant Intern - SouthPark Dermatology

General Job Summary:

The Medical Assistant Intern will support the department as assigned, while gaining experience and educational opportunities. (This is a PRN position that will support the Dermatology team at SouthPark, Monday & Wednesday 8 am to 5 pm).

Duties to include:

• Escort patients to exam rooms/procedure room, interviews patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, collect patient history; perform screenings per provider guidelines, other physical examination preparations and document all information in patient’s chart.
• Assist patients as needed with walking transfers, dressing, collecting specimens.
• Assembles patients’ health information including patient symptoms and medical history, exam results, X-ray reports, lab tests, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
• Ensures all related reports, labs and information is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment.
• Reviews to ensure all forms are completed, properly identified, and signed and that all necessary information in the EHR.
• Communicates as needed with physicians and other health care professionals to clarify diagnoses or obtain additional information.
• Obtains and sends patient medical records to support seamless care delivery.
• Opportunity for hands-on experience and exposure to a medical setting, including but not limited to laboratory, primary care services, registration, document management, care coordination, and more.
• Administer injections after completing Tryon training certification.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

• Must be enrolled in or have a degree from an accredited university / college undergraduate or graduate program, with a focus on medicine. Must be on track to return to medical school or complete Physician Assistant program.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).
• Will be required to complete online and in-person vaccination administration training.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Self-directed and able to work without supervision.
• Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be required. Candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
• Completion of TB test will be required.
• Maintain American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling.
• Must be able to lift and support weight of 35 pounds
• Ability to concentrate on details.
• Use of computer for long periods of time.
