Job summary

Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL seeks a PRN Certified Medical Assistant for our Infusion Center. The role supports patient care during chemotherapy and related procedures, assists with exams, manages patient flow, and ensures comfort and safety throughout visits.

The ideal candidate has outpatient clinic experience, port access, and lab/EKG skills; certification and CPR/BLS are required. This PRN position offers flexible hours at a leading National Cancer Institute-designated center.

Qualifications

• Experience in outpatient clinic settings as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience with accessing ports.
• Experience performing lab work and EKGs.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with ambulation and/or movement on/off exam table, chairs, and wheelchair; uses proper body mechanics and safety equipment.
• After patient identification, performs initial screening including vital signs, allergy information, and medication history; notifies staff of abnormal signs.
• Loads images/prepares for provider visits and maintains smooth clinic flow.
• Assists practitioner in procedures and room preparation; aids in maintaining sterile technique.
• Maintains knowledge of patient age-specific care and uses computerized systems as needed.
• Provides support to the provider during clinic by handling calls and faxes.
• Recognizes emergencies and implements emergency procedures; administers first aid and CPR.
