Job summary

Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas, TX is seeking a Medical Assistant for PRN-ASC roles. You will perform patient care tasks under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and Healthcare Provider to deliver patient-centered care.

The ideal candidate has completed an accredited MA program, CPR certification, and strong communication skills. This PRN position supports ambulatory surgical center operations and patient needs across shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have completed training through an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Demonstrate basic patient skills and competent use of supplies/equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
• Demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.
• Current CPR-Heartsaver card from AHA, ARC or Military Training Network.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care activities including immunizations, venipuncture, lab work, specimen collection, diagnostic tests, and vital signs.
• Acts as patient advocate, respecting patient needs, rights, confidentiality, and religious/cultural preferences.
• Monitors patient status and notifies nurses/health team of changes.
• Notates and records vitals, immunizations, PPDs, and related activities to support standards.
• Cleans areas, performs quality checks, and delivers specimens; may escort patients as needed.
• Participates in continuing education and applies knowledge to practice.
• Maintains cleanliness, infection control, safety, and equipment usage.
