Job summary

National EMR is seeking reservist Medical Assistant professionals to provide on-call clinical and administrative support across designated sites. You will maintain patient records, assist in medical intake, and support vaccination, basic clinical services, and documentation according to policy and HIPAA guidelines.

The role requires a current Medical Assistant Certification, BLS, and willingness to travel for deployments within 24-48 hours.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Current Medical Assistant Certification required.
• BLS certification required; ACLS and PALS preferred.
• Minimum of two years of professional healthcare experience.
• One year of front office experience preferred.
• Must be eligible to work nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Foster safety culture and report hazards to chain of command.
• Maintain active status in LMS and training platforms as directed.
• Collect and document medical staff information at designated sites to meet guidelines.

• Maintain electronic medical records and ensure proper documentation.
• Communicate effectively with health care providers and act as liaison between medical and residential services divisions.
• Maintain inventory of medications and supplies and ensure proper storage and expiration handling.
• Support medical intake processes and assist with transport of clients to appointments.

Certification

Must have a current Medical Assistant Certification and be eligible to work nationwide. BLS certification required. ACLS and PALS preferred.

Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience working in a healthcare setting required. One (1) year of experience in front office work in a healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Understand and adhere to the National EMR Policies and Procedures Manual, Uniform Handbook, and Operations Manual.
• Foster a culture that encourages team members to work safely, identify potential hazards, and report safety concerns immediately to their direct chain of command.
• Maintain active status within the agency’s platforms, including learning management systems to complete training that may be directed toward self-improvement, mission-specifics, or Just-In-Time (JIT) training.
• Collect, enter, and ensure documentation for medical staff at designated site(s), to ensure all required duties meet or exceed program guidelines and best practices established by local, state, and federal partners.
• Perform all administrative duties of the clinic or designated site(s) in accordance with National EMR policies and procedures.
• Administer and execute assigned medical services for service population as prescribed by an advanced practice provider or physician and applying best practice guidelines to include but not limited to medication administration, and well and sick child visits.
• Complete accurate documentation of activities performed in accordance with agency policies and procedures, contract and regulatory requirements and standards and program timeline requirements.
• Communicate effectively with health care providers regarding care for service population and be a liaison between the medical and residential services divisions.
• Maintain adequate inventory of all medications/supplies, ensure medications/supplies are within date and properly stored.
• Dispose of all unused and expired medications properly according to established protocols.
• Maintain electronic medical health care records.
• Know and recognize the signs of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and sexually provocative behavior when observing clients and implement professional response, reporting, and documenting procedures.
• Maintain first aid kits per licensing standards.
• Assist in medical intake process in collaboration with other medical staff.
• Maintain confidentiality of health care records and information in keeping with HIPAA, Protected Health Information (PHI) requirements and National EMR confidentiality protocol and procedures.
• Assist with distributing daily medical list to all designated staff.
• Participate in transport of clients to and from the medical clinic for medical appointments.
• Implement National EMR safety protocols including evacuating with clients and other staff in case of an emergency.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Maintain current certification for Medical Assistant.
• Must be willing to obtain additional licenses/certifications as needed/required.
• Adhere to acceptable standards of professional integrity and accountability in the workplace, and comply with all federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations in all duties.
• Provide proof of valid driver’s license and driving record in good standing with no restrictions (subject to review annually).
• Demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
• Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers, professionals, and clients.
• Maintain professional people skills and non-verbal communication skills.
• Communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, in English.
• Work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining control and professional composure and making decisions based on the needs of the program and service population.
• Maintain intermediate to advanced computer literacy (specifically Microsoft Suite).
• Be detail oriented and organized.
• Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Utilize a variety of communication systems to provide situational awareness across the response (cellular, two-way radio, satellite, etc.).
• Perform physical activity such as extensive walking, stretching, bending, and occasionally lifting and/or exceeding 50 lbs.
• Work extended hours and/or non-traditional hours (Ex. Weekends, evenings, holidays, in austere conditions).
• Must provide current physical-medical release and provide proof of immunizations, exemptions, or declinations for the following:
• Influenza
• MMR
• Varicella
• HepB
• HepA
• Tetanus
• PPD, IGRA, or Chest X-ray
• Meningococcal (preferred)
• Must successfully pass a scheduled or spontaneous drug screening.
