Job summary

Lifepoint Health in Temple, TX is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, assisting in assessments and care planning. You will administer medications, support interdisciplinary care, and contribute to patient education.

The ideal candidate is a graduate of an accredited LPN program, licensed in Texas, with CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LPN program with state licensure.
• CPR/BLS certification required; IV certification preferred or obtainable within 6 months.
• Six months of Medical/Surgical experience in acute care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and condition.
• Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
• Identify and implement rehabilitation nursing interventions.
• Perform Quality Improvement assessments under RN supervision.
• Deliver care based on patient response and update the plan accordingly.
• Assess and reassess pain; educate patients and families on pain management.
• Promote patient safety and reduce medical errors in all tasks.
• Develop and implement individualized teaching plans for patients and families.

Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Position Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, delivering treatments, assisting in assessments, and supporting interdisciplinary care planning in accordance with the patient's needs.

Essential Functions

• Administer medications safely, accurately, and based on patient age and clinical condition.
• Minimize potential for medication errors by following proper medication administration procedures.
• Assist the RN with initial assessments and patient reassessments per policy.
• Identify and implement appropriate rehabilitation nursing interventions.
• Perform timely and accurate Quality Improvement (QI) assessments under RN supervision.
• Deliver care based on patient response to treatment and update the interdisciplinary plan accordingly.
• Assess and reassess pain; use appropriate pain management techniques and educate patients and families.
• Perform all patient care tasks in a manner that promotes patient safety and reduces medical errors.
• Develop and implement individualized teaching plans based on patient and family learning needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse program.

• License: Current state licensure as a Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse.
• Certifications: CPR/BLS certification required; IV Certification highly preferred or must be obtained within 6 months.
